Lots of teenagers nowadays are excited to get behind the wheel of their very first car.

Even some parents can’t wait to head out to the nearest car dealer to pick out their kid’s very

first ride.

But how are they going to be able to run that precious newly acquired Ford convertible or that

shiny new Honda scooter if they don’t even know how to drive yet?

Well that really is not a problem because learning to drive in UK is quite easy.

First you just have to remember to apply for your first provisional driving license.

You can apply online or by post by completing a D1 application form, which you can obtain from

the post office or the DVLA form ordering service.

You need to secure these requirements before you apply:

• Proof of identity

• Color passport style picture of you

• £50 license fee (cheque or postal order payable to DVLA)

Then you can send your completed application and payment to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AD.

When you already have your first provisional driving license, you just have to go ahead and find

that person who’s authorized to give you driving lessons!

Remember, not just anyone can teach you how to drive in the UK.

This person needs to be an approved driving instructor (ADI) or trainee driving instructor.

That’s because ADIs and trainee driving instructors are supervised by the Driving Standards

Agency, and you can get a penalty of up to £1,000 if you drive without the proper supervision.

Let’s just say you’re getting your lessons from a family member.

Then you must remember that this family member should be over 21 years of age, must be

entitled to drive the type of vehicle you’ll be using, and should have acquired their driving

license for at least 3 years.
